No ride today, I was up past 1 am looking at the stats problem I created with the site upgrade on Sunday and didn’t think it made sense to get up at 5 am for a ride. It was a beautiful day and I was very tempted to cut out of work to get one in though. Since I have my ITT on Sunday I decided to take tonight and do a little work on the Madone. (more…)

Had to really fight my snuggling desires this morning. Even after getting all dressed and getting my bike out I still found myself thinking “I could go back to bed” standing in my socks looking out the door. (more…)

Well, after the practice ride yesterday I wasn’t sure if it would be easy to rally the girls to go out again today but it wasn’t too hard. Having been through the routine once before, it went quicker today. Gave the girls plenty of warning of when we’d be leaving and setup the bikes again. While I was doing that I noticed it was “sprinkling” just a little. This made me a little worried but my enthusiasm was not to be dampened. (more…)

When I put the girls to bed last night I reminded them that we were going to ride the Tour de Peaks today. I laid out that we would get up, eat breakfast, dress in some “riding clothes” and go for a bike ride with a bunch of other people. For those without little kids, it makes things go smoother when the future plans are outlined in some detail. I guess it helps them know that there’s something next besides “play”. Anyway, we got up, ate, and I hooked up the side-car and tag-along to my trusty all steal, no suspension 1992 Performance mountain bike, filled water bottles for everyone (letting the girls choose which ones would be theirs) and even packed some extra snacks in case they didn’t like what was offered. I did about an hour and a half of general cardio today. The first 30 minutes was a game of “Fairies and the Monster” at the park with the girls. I learned when Veronica was 2 that I can really hurt myself playing on playground equipment. It was good to get my very stiff legs moving though. As with most games at this age, after a while nearly everything became base and many other “rules” seemed to be ‘remembered’ at just the right moment. It was fun though. (more…)

Did the “the Firm” Body Sculpt this morning while Kim went on a run. Jen is the “the Firm Master Instructor” that leads the Body Sculpt workout. I chose Body Sculpt because it’s a heavier muscle work out. Last time I did it I almost died but that was 4 years ago when I wasn’t working out. (more…)

Well, we headed off to Michigan for a family reunion last week and I’m catching up on my bloging. The highlight for me heading into the week was the prospect of 6 days of riding with my Dad. We got into cycling together back in ‘87 and I always look forward to getting on the road with him - even though he’s been stronger, more fit, with more miles in him every year since I first beat him by 10 minutes on a 16 mile ride and he decided to buy a new bike.
