The children are tucked all snug in their beds - after only one request for blankie which was left downstairs on the computer and dad having to BEG them to let him read “The Night Before Christmas”. The presents are wrapped and Ma and I are readdy to settle down for a winter nap, though it won’t likely be long enough. There are creatures stiring all around, but that’s to be expected with two dogs and two hermit crabs in the house. (more…)

I started reading Dave’s blog back in July and was very interested in his frame building business since he built frames back in the 80’s when I got into cycling. I started watching e-bay for his bikes in my size and quickly found one but it slipped out of my hand. Not so this time! As encouraged by E-Bay, I shopped Victoriously and won myself an new vintage steel frame, down tube shifting bike.
My wife did it!
Posted by: riddenwords, in Family Time, Half Marathon, Las Vegas Half Marathon, RunWhile I some how missed her run past me at the finish she finished her first half marathon in Las Vegas today. Gun time was 2:25 and the extrapolated Forerunner time (it got turned off when the jacket came off) is 2:15ish. I believe she achieved every goal she had and had a great time doing it.
I am so proud of her. Longest run ever for her, all of those training miles, and all on top of being the best Mom, wife, and best friend I can imagine.
Great job Kim!
Running the Las Vegas Marathon
Posted by: riddenwords, in Family Time, Half Marathon, Ramblings, RunWow. Elvis, fireworks, and 15,000 runners make a pretty bag spectical. According to Robin Leach (yes, the Lifestyles of thr Rich and Famous Robin Leach) it took over 22 minutes to clear the starting line.
We (Kim and I) met up with Beth, Lisa, Phil, and Steve at the “porta-poty” meeting place. Brad and Andrea were already lined up for there attempts to qualify for the Boston Marathon.
After wishing everyone good luck I went to near the start to watch and see if I could spot Kim. I didn’t pick her out of the see of runners
but I know she’s off and running. Now to find some breakfast…
Gettitng ready to go to sleep. Have to be up at 4:45 to get Kim to the start line for her first Half Marathon tomorrow. Sweat365 pre-race dinner was great - good food and great people.
It’ll be cold in the morning but good for running. Brad and Phil are ready to compete and Phil’s hoping for a “win-win” he win’s the bet, Brad qualifies for Boston. We’ll see.
